When you are setting out to house train your new dog it is best to house train it at a very young age. You can teach old dogs new tricks but they do not catch on so quickly however. When house training you need to cater to your dog. The very first thing that you need to teach your dog is how to go outside to use the bathroom. Do not try to teach your dog anything else but this, we it gets where to use it then you can move on.

Remember taht you will nat have results overnight. When you house train your dog it can take several days and in some cases several weeks. Many dogs are very stubborn and they try to be the one in control you need to prevent your dog form thinking this way and you need to be the master.

Every person who is in the household needs to know what you expect of the dog. If you are trying to teach your dog something and somebody else allows the dog to do something different then it can result in a confused dog. You can obtain more information on dog training books here.

You will not see the results of any new lesson right away. You need to have patience and be very consistent. Your effort will pay off and you will end up with a dog that know where to use the bathroom and your dog will also know who is the boss. This is what we all want to achieve in the long run isnt it – a well trained (house trained) dog we would be proud to show off to anyone – and a carpet that no longer smells?
