Standing out from the crowd -
Gold, silver, platinum, and other precious metals can be added to the collar to make it unique, and you can also choose from many different materials for the collar itself, such as suede, leather, vinyl, and even cotton. You can easily have your collar customized to be decorated with many semi precious and precious stones and decorated beads.
You may also have unique gemstones like rubies, zircons, crystals… and even diamonds, put on the collar and designed in gorgeous patterns.
The most common and popular use of gemstones on collars, is crystals placed to spell out your pet’s name onto the collar, and also to add unique patterns, if desired. Collars that are designed for your dog are good, because they are easily functional as a collar, and at the same time, they add beauty and charm to your dog’s collar.
Measuring your dog’s collar -
It’s very important that you have the proper measurement for your dog’s collar, as not all charts and general sizes (small, medium, large etc…) will fit your dog, since the collars are customized in the first place.
Dog’s collars are measured in inches, and most often the bigger the dog, the larger their collar, however this is not always the case, but keep the following chart in mind:
- Toy – 8 to 9 inches
- small sized dogs, 10-14 inches
- Small to medium- 14-16 inches
- Medium- 16-18 inches
- Large, 20-22 in
- Very Large Breeds, 22 to 24 inches
The width of a dog collar is most often ½-1 inch, so you do not have to worry about finding a measurement for this, unless you prefer to have a collar which is wider, then you can just ask for the collar to be customized to suit your preference.
A good example to help you figure out the scale of the chart, is to look at Jack Russels, as they most often fall into the small dog category, of about a 10-14 inch collar. Bigger dogs, like Labs, Retrievers, Dalmatians etc.. can have a varied collar size, because their neck sizes generally range anywhere from 14 to 20 inches, and likewise for large breed dogs; which is why you should always measure your dog’s neck circumference.
