There are many types and sizes of bird cages to choose from.  If you a looking for a parrot bird cage, for expample, the list could be endless.Parrots come in many species and sizes and finding the correct parrot bird cage for your pet bird is knowing what to ask and what to look for.

In the end, the correct parrot bird cage for your feathered friend is one which is big enough, does not contain harmfulitems that may injure your bird, has the proper bar spacing, is easy maintenance for the owner and is set at a area where your petbird can interact and be part of the family.

Size is the first item you should consider.  No matter where you get your parrot bird cage, whether it is in a store front or online, there should be a sizing chart or guide available for you to review.  Also, ask questions to the sales person where your buying from.  Let them know the type of bird and they should be able to recommend a minimum size of cage.  Bar spacing should be considered here.  The usual bar spacing for cages is 5/8″ or 1″.  Once again, ask the sales person of internet website owner what the maximum recommended bar spacing is for your bird.

Make sure you are acquiring a quality bird cage from a good manufacturer.  Paint is very essential and any bird cage should use a powder coating process for their painted bird cages.  You can avoid this issue by buying a stainless-steel bird cage, but often these are very expensive and not affordable to the average bird owner.  Any retail or online store should provide you information on the painting process and facts about the cages concerning peeling, scratching and other ways a bird can ingest paint from a bird cage.

Your cage should be easy to maintain.  This is important since it is mandatory to your bird that you maintain its home.  If a cage is difficult to clean you will more than likely not do it as often as needed.  Now, I do not know of a particular bird owner that likes this job but making it more difficult than it needs to be just adds frustration for you.  Easily removable trays, access to food and water, seed catchers, etc. are all things that should be considered before your purchase.

Finally, the last and maybe the most essential aspect bird cage purchasing is deciding on the location to put it in your home.  Going through the process of buying a bird, cage, toys, supplies and all the other items that accompany it and then sticking your feathered friend in the north wing of your house when the family is in the south wing everyday is not smart.  Experience your bird and let him enjoy you.  Birds, especially medium and larger varieties want to socialize and be part of the family.  Having them separated is generally harmful and can lead tophysical and psychological problems with your bird.

So, ask questions, get the correct size and bar spacing, check the manufacturer, and locate the right area for your parrot bird cage.  When you do these items, you and your bird will both benefit and live longer and happier lives.
