Every dog owner needs to make sure that they properly train their dog. A well behaved dog is a joy for the owner and his or her family, but it’s also a loved animal among the neighbors of the dog owner. This is where the electronic dog training collar comes into play. This collar goes on just like a regular collar only there are two metal probes that stick out from it.

After a dog has been given this collar, it will recieve a small electrical shock if the collar detects barking. The collar can be turned on or off, just like any device, allowing you to give your dog permission to bark, for example, if you want your dog to be a guardian dog that barks at intruders. The electronic dog training collar has had a lot of controversy surrounding it since it first hit the market.

There are a lot of people who are avid fans of the electronic dog training collar but then there are others who think it is cruel. The jolt does scare the dog a bit, specially at first, but it doesn’t hurt the dog or cause pain for it.

Wearing the collar, even in the long term, will not affect the health of a dog. Nevertheless, you should always try to be with your dog when the collar is turned on. You can purchase an electronic dog training collar that works remotely so you can actually shock the dog when you see them doing something wrong.

Where To Get It

If you decide to buy an electronic dog training collar, just go to any local store where they sell pet products and you’ll likely find it there. Most pet stores will have at least a remotely decent selection of dog training collars to offer. And of course, if for some reason you don’t think that the electronic dog training collar is appropriate for your dog, then there are some other options you can consider.

There are lots of other dog training collars that work well. For example, the citronella collar is considered a better option by people who think that electrical shocks, no matter how small they might be, are inappropiate for their dogs. This collar doesn’t shock the dog, instead, it sprays its muzzle with a bit of citronella scent (which dogs hate) in order to correct it.
