Every dog has to be trained properly so it behaves well with its new adoptive family. A well behaved dog is a joy for the owner and his or her family, but it’s also a loved animal among the neighbors of the dog owner. That’s where the electronic dog training collar can benefit you. This collar looks no different from a normal collar, except for the two steel prongs that it has.

When the dog wears this collar, it will receive a mild electrical shock if it starts to bark. The collar can be turned off at will by the owner, so that if you want to give your dog a rest or you want to allow it to bark, you can do it without removing the collar. As you can imagine, the electronic dog training collar has been the center of controversy since it appeared in the market.

On one hand, many people support the electronic dog training collar, but on the other, many people think it’s cruel and inhuman. The jolt does scare the dog a bit, specially at first, but it doesn’t hurt the dog or cause pain for it.

Wearing the collar, even in the long term, will not affect the health of a dog. Nevertheless, you should always try to be with your dog when the collar is turned on. In addition, you can get an electronic dog training collar that comes wiht a remote control, so you can activate the shock manually whenever your dog does something innapropriate or dangerous, like running after a moving car.

Where To Get It

If you decide to buy an electronic dog training collar, just go to any local store where they sell pet products and you’ll likely find it there. In fact, most stores will have a variety of electronic dog training collars for you to choose from. And of course, if for some reason you don’t think that the electronic dog training collar is appropriate for your dog, then there are some other options you can consider.

There are lots of other dog training collars that work well. There is the citronella dog training collar for one which is considered as being gentler than the electronic dog training collar by most owners. This collar doesn’t shock the dog, instead, it sprays its muzzle with a bit of citronella scent (which dogs hate) in order to correct it.
