Dogs have to be trained by necessity. Each person that buys a dog has to make sure that the dog receives the proper training according to the dog’s age, breed, and purpose. Training doesn’t have to be hard, in fact, most dogs need only a bit of it and if presented as a game, they greatly enjoy it. Regardless of the length and purpose of the training, you can always speed up the process with the appropriate tools.

If you get one of these, for example, an electronic dog training collar, you’ll see better results in a shorter amount of time. The electric dog training collar has had a lot of controversy surrounding it since it first hit the market a few years ago. On one hand, people have found it extremely effective and even enjoyable to use when training their dogs. On the other hand, some people think it’s a cruel form to punish dogs for following their natural instincts.

From a distance, there’s no difference between the electric dog training collar and a regular collar; it’s only upon close observation that one can see the two steel prongs that the collar has. These must be in direct contact with the dog’s skin in order to work. And just like a regular collar, the electric dog training collar comes in different sizes and colors, so you can choose one that looks nice for your dog.

Does The Electric Dog Training Collar Hurt?

So the biggest issue that owners have is whether or not this electronic dog training collar is actually going to hurt their dog. The simple answer is no, it is not going to hurt your dog. The collar does give your dog a small electric shock, but it’s so mild that it only confuses your dog for a few seconds, without injuring your dog. The real issue is whether or not you want to use this sort of a scare tactic on your dog. If you find that you don’t want your dog to be subjected to electrical shocks, no matter how mild they are, you can choose a different type of dog collar.

One option is the citronella training collar, which, unlike the shock collar, uses a small spray of citronella perfume (an odor that dogs dislike) to correct your dog and make it stop barking.

Every owner is different and it really all depends on how you feel and what you feel is too much when it comes to training your dog. Regardless of the collar you select, you need to invest some time training your dog personally.
