Dog Shock Collar – Stop the Loud Barking and Furniture Chewing
Like any dog owner, you want your dog behaved whether inside your home or outside it.
So it’s most likely you already know, the hard way, how much trouble an undisciplined dog can bring – from the excessive barking to the biting things and chasing people.
This is why you need to consider buying a no-bark collar.
Getting your dog used to wearing the collar is to be a project between pet and owner.
Among various collar types, the dog shock collar stands out as one of the most effective.
A Brief Shopping Guide for Shock Collars
Bark collars belong to three categories. There’s the static correction type, the sonic type, and the spray type. A dog shock collar is the static correction type, as it sends out a low volt shock as the corrective stimulus. The sonic type uses a high-pitched tone that is annoying to dogs – a sound only dogs can hear, since it’s beyond the range of normal human hearing. The spray type squirts out a liquid, harmless to the dog but just as annoying. The most popular right now is the static or shock collar.
Bark or no-bark collars are automatic in their trigger system, which is a sensor that activates the stimulus once the dog barks. So when your dog barks, the dog shock collar activates, sending out a static correction in response to the dog’s barking.
As for whether static correction collars are inhumane, assuredly there are. One needs to remember that the level of electric shock the unit releases is no more painful than static electricity one may get from carpets. There’s a reason why static collars enjoy good reviews from dog owners – they bring good results in less time.
That’s because the shock received is a good way to interrupt and therefore deter barking, which is exactly what owners expect. After a few days, the dogs wearing the shock collars show a marked reduction in their uncontrolled barking.
One may have to keep in mind, also, that no bark collars are designed only to correct one type of behavior, and that is barking. When one needs a more general obedience tool, one that’s used on the working dogs or hunting dogs, one needs training collars. Remote training collars belong to this category, of which there is also a static correction type. Remote training collars that use shock as stimulus are different only from static correction types because of the remotely activated stimulus.
